PKR Points
As an online poker player, you're sure to be familiar with points. Sometimes they're called frequent player points, VIP points or in PKR's case, PKR points. Whatever they're called, the idea behind them is the same -- to reward players for spending time at the tables. Earning points is just a great incentive to play more. You could even view it as a way to further offset the site's rake.
So with that in mind, what I'm going to show you here is how to earn points at PKR. Then I'm going to show you the various ways your points are used so that you can take advantage of everything that PKR has to offer.
How to Earn Points at PKR
There are two different ways to earn points at PKR.
One way is to be given them. This might be a promo such as when you signup and deposit for the first time. These points are somewhat limited in their use though, as you can't use them to clear bonuses (since you didn't play to earn them). They can only be used in the PKR shop. You can use these points to buy gear for your PKR avatar too.
The other way to receive PKR points is by earning them. You do this by playing real money games and generating rake.
Basically, for every $.01 you pay in rake, you will earn 1 PKR point. So for example, paying a $2 fee to enter a tournament or SNG will earn you 200 PKR points.
It's harder to determine exactly how many points you earn from cash games. That's because the rake you pay and ultimately the points you earn is based on the amount you contribute to the pot. If you contribute 25% of the total pot, you're only going to earn 25% of the total PKR points awarded. PKR has a cap of $3 for maximum that they take out of the pot for the rake. So you know that for any given pot, the maximum number of points that you can earn is 150 -- 300 points total split two ways.
Keep in mind too, that since they have a 'no flop, no drop' policy, points will not be awarded if there is no action preflop.
Using Your PKR Points
PKR points can be used one of a few ways.
The option that stands out the most is unlocking your deposit bonus. For every $1 in bonuses that you wish to clear, you will need to use 225 PKR points. If you decide to take advantage of the entire $800 bonus, then you'd need 180,000 points.
Another thing to use your points on is to outfit your avatar in different kinds of shirts, hats, pants and other accessories. You can buy all of these from your dressing room. Here is an idea of how many points this will require: shirts will cost up to 50 points, pants up to 70, hats up to 200 and tattoos up to 600. For many of these items, you won't have to play more than an hour or two to fully dress up your avatar and make him or her unique from everyone else.
You can also buy chip tricks. These will range from 500 to 2,500 points. Chip tricks can be purchased in the dressing room as well.
Gear can be purchased for yourself too. PKR has a shop where you can use your points to pick up all kinds of things ranging from clothes to electronics to tournament tickets to even a car. If it's not stamped with a PKR logo, it will be with a brand name. I'm sure you're familiar with these: Apple, Ray-Ban and Aston Martin, just to name a few.
When offered, PKR points can also be used for reload bonuses.
Club PKR
Another thing that your points go towards is your membership in Club PKR, PKR's VIP program.
What separates PKR's VIP program from any other sites' is that once you reach one of their 6 statuses, it's yours for life. It doesn't matter if you stop playing at PKR for a week or 6 months. You can come back and enjoy the benefits that status makes available to you.
There are 6 tiers in PKR's VIP program. The first tier is very easy to obtain -- you just need to make a real money deposit. The other 5 statuses along with the points needed to obtain them will progress as shown below:
- Bronze: 35,001 to 100,000
- Silver: 100,001 to 500,000
- Gold: 500,001 to 1,000,000
- Platinum: 1,000,001 to 2,500,00
- Diamond: 2,500,001+
As a VIP member, you'll be subject to various gifts and bonuses. For example, a member will receive things like a regular newsletter, points boosters and invitations to tournaments. As you move up the VIP ladder, you'll receive those items plus the ability to have private tournaments, increased deposit limits and other forms of hospitality from PKR.
