The Loco Challenge, PKRs Stepping Up promo and MTT Leaderboard

September 9th, 2011 by Gerry Poltorak

There was a lot going on in the world of PKR Poker this past week including a number of cool promotions for the PKR community including the next round of voting on the “Stepping Up” promo, as well as a look at the upcoming heads-up battle between Team PKR Poker Pro Sascha “locodice” Walter and “fleischer123” in the Loco Challenge promo.

We’ll also be taking a look at all of this plus reviewing the weekend tournament results and the updated PKR Poker MTT Leader-board to see if WuarblWrbl can hold on to the top spot. So let’s get right down to it!

Weekend Tournament Results

  • WPT Experience Package

This weekend, another member of PKR Poker won his way into the WPT Ireland tournament this coming January as “KL1987” managed to top the 39 player field for the $,5000 prize-package that includes a WPT Ireland Main Event entry. It took KL1987 beating a former PKR Poker Team Pro to win the prize-package, but apparently not even Henrik ‘Poker85′ Eklund was going to keep the Brit from playing the first-ever WPT Dublin Main Event!

  • Sunday High-Roller

Russia’s “Teara” picked up his second big score of the month in this past week’s High-Roller tournament, picking up the $5,790 first-place prize to go along with his final table in last week’s PKR 500 where he pocketed $3,164.

  • Sunday Open

An impressive 680 players registered for the Sunday Open this past weekend, and in the end it was “Ashurqueen” who took home the win, pocketing $3,665 for his efforts.

  • Sunday Grand Prix

It was the biggest win of his PKR career up to this point, as MTT Rankings contender panasonyste pocketed the $3,515 awarded to the winner of the $55 buy-in tournament that saw 287 registrants.

  • The Prestige

All I can say about this one is: What a final table! You would have thought that this an exclusive tournament for the MTT Rankings leaders as PKR legends japete finished in 6th place, Durrrrsucks in 4th place and ForFoxSake in 3rd place! The winner of the tournament and the $3,678 first place prize-money was “wilza” who may end up with the title of “Giant-Killer” after defeating this final table.

The Loco Challenge

PKR Poker will begin its version of the Durrrr Challenge/Superstar Showdown on Thursday when Team PKR Pro Sascha “locodice” Walter takes on the brash-talking “fleischer123” in a 10,000 hand challenge match played at PKR’s $1/$2 Heads-Up NLHE tables.

In addition to keeping any profits from the match, the winning player will also receive a $1,000 bonus from PKR Poker. Should either “locodice” or “fleischer123” decide to back-out of the match while it’s in progress it will cost them $2,000.

Voting now open for PKR’s Stepping Up promo

PKR’s exciting promotion, Stepping Up, is back for another go round, and once again three micro-stakes players have written short essays on why they should be the winner of the promotion –which would net them three tickets for the PKR Open.

Here is a quick look at the three players that were up for voting this week:

  • Mr. Persistent – theHammer4u
  • Mr. Opportunistic – xSPTx
  • Mr. Competitive – ifcDay

You can read each players essay at the PKR Poker website, but unfortunately voting ended on Wednesday night :)

PKR Multi-Table Tournament Leader-Board

Ok, WuarblWrbl’s performance is getting a bit scary now. I didn’t think it was possible for him to increase his lead even farther, but he has, now leading Wygie by nearly 16,000 points –keep in mind that Wygie only has 31,000 points total!

One of the big movers up the leader-board was Tyger007, who has now managed to move into the #4 spot, knocking Ellie91 and Rocken1900 down a notch or two. ForFoxSake was challenging for the #1 spot recently, but his downward slide continued this past week as he dropped from #6 to #7 on the rankings leader-board.

Here is a look at the Top 10 players on the PKR Poker MTT Leader-Board for the week:

  1. Wuarblwarbl, Germany: 47,243 points
  2. Wygie, Belgium: 31,629 points
  3. Henk101, Netherlands 30,069 points
  4. Tyger007, United Kingdom: 29,594 points
  5. Ellie91, United Kingdom: 28,398 points
